The Brady Ball
The Brady Ball in the book, Million-Dollar Throw, symbolizes Nate Brodie's life long dream. Nate has wanted to buy that ball ever since he was a very little kid. The Brady Ball is a football that has been in a sports memorabilia store located in a nearby mall. The football was signed by Tom Brady. He saved up all his money until one day when he was thirteen years old, he was able to purchase the ball for five hundred dollars. This ball symbolizes somewhat of Nate Brodie's dream because first of all he owns something that hes idol, Tom Brady, signed, and because he bought that ball he gets the chance to meet Tom Brady and change his families life. He gets this chance because when he bought the Brady Ball, he was given the chance to compete in the Million-Dollar throw and finish the rest of his dream by changing his families life by winning the money. That is how the Brady ball symbolizes the two paths that Nate's life may take.
Abby's New School
Abby's new school symbolizes a tough time for Nate Brodie. Her new school symbolizes what may begin to happen to the relationship that will come between his best friend, Abby, and himself. Because Abby is going blind and will soon come fully blind, she will have to transfer to this school to get special help for what she needs. This will limit the time that Abby will be able to spend with Nate because they are way farther apart than usual now, and it will be harder for them to keep in touch and to make time to be together. So in this case Abby's new school symbolizes a rough time for Nate Brodie because it symbolizes the tragic outcome of what may happen to the friend ship that he shares with his best friend.
The Million-Dollar Throw Target
The Million-Dollar Throw target that is placed thirty yards away from Nate the night of the Million-Dollar Throw symbolizes they two paths that Nate's life will take on depending on if he makes it through the target or not. It first symbolizes that if he makes it, him, his family, and Abby's life will all change for the best by for him to give the money to his parents to be able to keep his house and for his parents to be able to pay the lack of bills they have been missing. The second thing it symbolizes is that if he does not make it, his life will keep going down hill because of the family losing the house and maybe other things as well. That is how the Million-Dollar Throw target symbolizes the two paths that Nate's life may take.
